Oh wow, I haven't uploaded anything in like, forever! That doesn't mean I'm not drawing, I have a number of big pictures to show you guys. Also, I'll soon post a big 2008 sketchdump of a bunch of little last year drawings. This picture is probably from the first half of 2008.
I always liked how dachshunds have those short little feet so I wanted to draw one as an anthro. An since dachshunds always seemed like the smart type to me it's only natural he gets a pair of glasses too. He's a little guy who follow the big samurai polar bear around (this guy [link]). I worked on his design a bit and gave him a lot longer arms so he can actually reach his sword. Though I might make his arms shorter again, just for the sake of cute. The pose is a bit weird though.
I can never get "dachshund" right, I always write daschund or something. The name comes from the German word "der Dachs" which means badger and "der Hund" meaning dog. We call it "yazavchar" and it comes from the word "yazavatz", which also means badger.
You did a wonderful job here I really love the expression, and I really like your character design. His arms might be a tad longer than his feet- but maybe that is an illusion created by the different foot anatomy, but I think it really works well regardless The fur texture is nicely done too!
Thank you! His arms are indeed longer than his legs. They used to be really short but then I wondered how he'd pull out his sword (since they hang by the belt he'd have to have a hell of a flexible spine to reach them). So I tried to go with the "short legs-long arms“-design. Although, short arms look cuter, so I'm still not sure about making this design final
The fur texture is nicely done too!
